Here at Authenticity 50, we sourced the best yarn possible for our sheets. Here's a brief rundown of our process:
First, we use the highest quality cotton available, Supima®, as our base ingredient. No rotten apples here! Our Supima® cotton is shipped from the California farm and received by our partners who take the raw, harvested cotton, and spin it into something we can use; yarn.
The spinning of yarn into goods and products has been around for centuries. Yarn is very versatile; it can be knit into fabric for apparel (like t-shirts or hoodies,) or woven into fabric for goods, (like sheets and drapes.) In our modern day world, the spinning of raw cotton into yarn is an impressive, high-tech process. It requires millions of dollars of machinery, and many trained technicians to keep the business running smoothly around the clock. Our partners spin yarn 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 350+ days a year!
By keeping our entire manufacturing process at home in the USA, we are able to easily visit our partners and ensure that we are providing our customers with the very best cotton sheets around! The flight to Georgia, to visit our yarn mill is only a short, 4.5 hour flight from LAX, versus a lengthy 12 hour flight to China or India. I visited the mill on my Deep South tour and the amazing staff not only gave me an overview of their history, they gave me a comprehensive tour of their factory floor. I saw the manufacturing process firsthand; where the cotton is delivered, brushed, and straightened, and then spun into beautiful, durable, fine yarns.
This family owned business has been in operation for more than 200 years, and this specific factory was opened in 1996 (bucking the trend of massive closures of textile mills in the Southern States.) I'm very happy to report that the company has weathered the economic storms of late; they are going strong and remain the premiere spinner of Supima® yarn in the United States.
